Agriculture
Background
Endless opportunities are to be found in sustainable agriculture projects that increase local production, reduce dependence on food imports and lower the cost of food.
From enhancing agro-processing facilities to establishing and supporting labor enterprises by providing training and access to critical equipment, investment opportunities in Grenada's agribusiness sector abound.
The quality of food is an area of concern as noncommunicable diseases are the leading cause of premature deaths in the Caribbean. To combat this, the Grenadian government has implemented policies to promote healthy eating and lifestyles.
Access roads to farms are crucial, and the government will achieve this through the grading, draining, and placing of binders on at least 20 critical farm roads. Private partnerships with the private sector will be pursued to ensure the sustainability of these initiatives.
